VIA Rail Canada Inc. Canada's national passenger rail service is currently seeking an adaptable and proactive team-player to fill a position on the team as a Locomotive Attendant working from our esteemed Vancouver Maintenance Centre location.
Day in a life as a Locomotive Attendant at VIA Rail
As a Locomotive Attendant you will be responsible for the safe movement of locomotives and train consists in and around the confines of the Vancouver Maintenance Center. You will also be asked to move equipment use industrial tools perform general cleaning/janitorial and other related duties.
You must be willing and able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
The position is permanent (40 hours per week guaranteed) and the work schedule may vary (the schedule choice is based on seniority).
Candidates must be available to work any day of the week as the Maintenance Center is open 7 days, 24h a week during peak season..

High School diploma
Ability to lift up to 50lbs and use industrial tools
Valid driver s license (Class 1 or 3 is an asset)
Having a proactive attitude and the ability to work well under pressure
Availability to work outdoors and to work during the evenings and weekends
Assets:
Previous experience working in a railway environment or at a similar role
C.R.O.R. certification
