Beach

Our final concert of the season is a rare presentation of Amy Beach's Grand Mass in E Flat Major with our special guests, the Allegra Chamber Orchestra. Premiered in Boston in 1892, this large-scale choral and orchestral work was the first of its kind by a female American composer. After that performance, one critic wrote that the Mass placed Amy Beach "amongst the foremost rank of American composers". The Vancouver Cantata Singers are proud to premiere this monumental work full of vibrancy and pathos for our Vancouver audience.
