Through My Eyes: An Artist's Re-Creation
Join us for an incredible in-person event where local artist, Maureen Coles, showcases her brand new collection of paintings representing a re-creation of her artistic voice and vision. Located at the Alternatives Gallery and Studio at 1659 Venables Street, Vancouver, this event promises to be a feast for the senses.
Maureen is a visual artist with vision loss and has been a painting and teaching for over 35 years. This exhibition will be completely accessible, with audio descriptions, oralfactory elements, and portion of the works will be completely touchable. We invite guests with vision of all types to feel their way through the pieces and immerse themselves completely in the art. Through a variety of mediums, she will share her vision and invite you to experience the world through her creative lens.
Discover the beauty and diversity of art as you explore the exquisite pieces on display. We believe art should be accessible to all and hope that this event serves as an example for other art spaces in Vancouver.
What to Expect:
This is an all ages event with light bites and a cash bar (debit/credit) available to guests ages 19+.
Along with the art, we will have a special premiere screening of the trailer for Maureen's new Telus STORYHIVE docuseries which follows her journey to creating this exhibition and adapting her creative voice to her changing vision, coming to your screens in late 2024.
Buy raffle tickets for the chance to win original artwork by Maureen with the proceeds going to VocalEye Descriptive Arts Society. You can find out more about this fantastic organization here: https://www.vocaleye.ca/about/
