Description
Onsite Symposium · April 24-26, 2024
Coast Coal Harbour Vancouver Hotel by APA (Downtown Vancouver)
As the landscape in online and digital education continues to shift and evolve, educators are invited to come together for a collaborative and deep-learning event at the 21st Annual Digital Learning Symposium in April (#DLsymp24). The BC Partners in Online Learning - led by the conference committee of BCEDL, CANeLearn, and several stakeholders from public and independent schools - are hard at work planning a robust program that includes the latest research, trends, and online tools available for powerful digital education to occur.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER - JO CHRONA
We are thrilled to welcome Jo Chrona as our keynote speaker! Jo is the author of Wayi Wah! Indigenous Pedagogies: An Act of Reconciliation and Anti-Racist Education.
Jo has over 25 years of experience in education as a teacher in both K-12 (secondary) and post-secondary education, an Advisor with the BC Ministry of Education, and a Policy Analyst, then Curriculum Manager, for the First Nations Education Steering Committee in British Columbia.
She holds a Master's degree in Educational Technology and has experience as an online student and as a content creator for online courses.
Keynote Address:
Wayi Wah! Intersections Between Digital Learning, Relationship, and Place
The First Peoples Principles of Learning (FPPL), with their emphasis on relationship and place, are continuing to make an impact on the BC education systems as a framework for creating more responsive educational experiences for all learners. What can this mean for digital learning spaces? In this session, Jo uses her experiences in K-12, Indigenous education, and content creation for DL courses to explore this theme.

This hybrid event will take place both at the beautiful Coast Coal Harbour in Downtown Vancouver, and online. There are limited in-person spots available, so if you're unable to make it in person, virtual attendance is an excellent option as all sessions are live-steamed and interactive.
