Responsibilities
Provides assistance to the Human Resources (HR) Advisors and Senior Human Resources (HR) Advisor in the recruitment of Transit Operators including testing, scheduling interviews and medical appointments for candidates, conducting reference checks with previous employers and Criminal Record Searches. Conducts standard testing for Operator applicants and for other job competition applicants, as required. Provides Operator candidates with general information on recruitment procedures, conditions of employment, etc. and answers enquiries from applicants regarding Operator recruitment, referring sensitive issues to the HR Advisors. Distributes job bulletins, sets up competition files, maintains a variety of records and prepares regular and ad hoc reports of statistics as required. Schedules employment related medical appointments, conducts credit checks for applicable positions and provides general clerical support for the HR Advisors and Recruiters.
Provides assistance to the HR Advisors in the recruitment of Operators by:
Reviewing the applications for completeness;
Setting up interviews, testing, and medical appointments for candidates;
Contacting previous employers to confirm employment history and conducting reference checks;
Preparing and sending offer letters to successful applicants and letters of regret to unsuccessful applicants.
Conducts standard testing for Operator applicants and, as required, for other job competition applicants by:
Explaining tests and procedures to applicants;
Monitoring testing on scheduled days;
Marking tests using a marking template to short list applicants;
Preparing letters to applicants advising them of the test results.
Provides Operator candidates with general information on recruitment procedures, conditions of employment and the Company in general, explains the status of job competitions, job requirements, rates of pay and basic conditions of work. Answers enquiries from applicants regarding Operator recruitment, referring questions on sensitive issues to HR Advisors.
Distributes bulletins according to distribution list and sets up competition files.
Maintains Operator recruitment related library data in Human Resources Information System.
Maintains a variety of records and files, including Operator employment application statistics.
Prepares regular and ad hoc reports of statistics as required using various software programs.
Provides general clerical support for the HR Advisors and Recruiters including typing a variety of forms, letters and correspondence and answering telephones.
Orders stationery supplies and maintains the stationery room in an orderly condition.
Performs related duties as assigned, such being items of a minor nature that do not affect the value of the job.
Qualifications
Requires Grade 12 graduation including successful completion of courses in office procedures, word processing, spreadsheet and database software. Requires one (1) year previous experience in Human Resources, including recruitment.
A further period of up to six (6) months in the job to become familiar with the department’s recruiting procedures and procedures of the job.
Other Information
Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.
Work Schedule
37.5 hours per week.
This is a full-time position with an approximate end date of February 28, 2025.
Work Designation
Hybrid
This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within B.C.
Rate of Pay
Salary $5,007 - $6,008 per month (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity).
